"If society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich" - John. F. Kennedy
Well, I'm all into it now. This blog is the first step on my desire to fully take advantage the possibility to reach the world that technology offers. I decided to create my personal website as well, where I will post articles and op/eds (hopefully written by me, but also links to wise columnists and editorials) about politics and economics. I will include my favorite links, it also has a page with pictures of the 2004 campaign and other political moments. My gallery of favorite politicians and statesmen and other random stuff. That site is meant for fun, as a way to share with y'all (that was me speaking Texan) my ideas and projects and get feedback from you.
The site is up now and I encourage you to visit it (http://www.freewebs.com/cme2004). Of course, just as here, I'm using the standard templates that they provide for free. Don't judge the design yet (if you do, I fully expect your help in changing it). I know is not very good, I don't like it myself, but.. gimme a break, is my first time! Also, at this stage, you will finish looking at everything in about two minutes, but it will build up in content in the following months.
The following step in my cyber projects is to build a professional site dedicated to Mexican politics. I envision something modeled in this very cool site that I visit a lot (http://uselectionatlas.org). The idea is to offer information about the mexican political and electoral issues, build some sort of database like the one in the site I just referred and start building a community of concerned individuals. Hopefully this will turn out to be a base of political support in the future.. err...I shouldn't be saying this out loud... well, I will delete it later.
Please, give me feedback, any feedback. I'm getting really excited with this.
By the way, today is a beautiful day in Austin! a cold front came yesterday (with weird random showers) and the temperature is down to around 85 degrees! (that's like 30 in centigrades) instead of the normal upper 90's. A year ago, just when I arrived here, we had two days of record breaking 108 and 110 degrees! (more than 42 in centigrades) - This has been a considerably better summer.
Welcome to my Blog! Bienvenidos a mi Blog!
I've had the idea of starting my own blog for several months now, but hadn't found the time to start it. To be more precise, the "inspirational event" was not there yet. That "inspirational event" that I usually need to start acting on all the ideas and projects that I have in my mind. So, I have to thank my good friend Andy Redman for playing that role this time; he started his own blog two days ago and will keep us informed about his adventures in Eastern Europe and the Olympics. (http://andyredman.blogspot.com)
What I will write here? well, I think it will turn out to be a combination of some sort of diary, funny and interesting experiences of my life here in Austin, TX, as well as a series of postings on my ideas about politics, economics, current events, etc. and my ongoing and future projects. It will also be a very cool way to share my experiences with my friends here and in Mexico. I will try to post both in English and Spanish, if I have the time to do it.
I've never written a diary before; therefore, I think it will be kind of hard at the beginning. So, if you see that my postings are somewhat boring or doesn't flow very well, please bear with me until I start feeling comfortable with sharing my thoughts in this way. I cannot deny that I feel kind of wary to start a blog. I know how nasty political campaigns can turn out to be. We know that every word you have said or written in the past can come to haunt you in the future. That's why I've grown up believing that a politician, or an aspiring politician which is my case, should not keep a diary. So, I will keep that in mind. Nevertheless, I will try to keep this site interesting.
Welcome!
